Double-header weekend shows early season promise for Buckeyes (2017)

The team had a full weekend of racing with everyone getting a chance to compete. The Varsity team traveled to Marietta for the Muskie Chase Regatta on Saturday to race Marietta College and Case Western, while volunteering at the Speakmon Memorial Regatta in Columbus where the novice team competed Sunday.

At the Muskie Chase all our boats put up faster times than previous years, cutting into Marietta’s winning margin significantly over previous years. We were also able to enter more boats than in previous years, representing the significant and exciting growth the program has experienced over the past two years.

On Sunday at Speakmon Memorial Regatta the novice men were able to win the Novice 4+ event and both the novice men’s 8+ and novice women’s 4+ were able to win silver. With the novice team gained experience, the varsity team helped over 500 boats execute a successful day of racing to raise money for the team and give back to the sport. The team is working hard to finish the fall season strong with the next stop being the Head of the Hooch this upcoming weekend. Overall, a great weekend to be a Buckeye!
