Head of the Hooch Recap

This past weekend the team traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee to race the Head of the Hooch. Our Buckeyes gained tremendous amounts of race experience with 14 crews racing in nine events over two days. Saturday morning the regatta started strong with OSU Crew Men’s Novice 8+ placing second out of 35 crews. As the day continued, we saw several more top ten finishes. Several team members continued racing on Sunday with at top ten finish in the Women’s Championship 1x by team president Rachel Bushman. The regatta is one of the largest in the country with over 50 entries in multiple events. Overall, an outstanding weekend as OSU Crew finished 13th out of 59 collegiate entries in team points.

Head Coach Mark Williams was pleased with the overall success of the squad saying “The frosh men put together a very solid race for sliver, and were the top club program in a very large field. The novice women ended their fall season with their best performance to date, and both the varsity men’s and women’s squads rowed to competitive placings in the deep and challenging eights events.”
