The time that the Ohio State Crew Club has been training for since mid September has finally come. This Friday and Saturday (May 7th and 8th) the Ohio State crew Club will race at the largest collegiate regatta in the nation, the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. The regatta will take place on the Schuylkill River, just north east of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, one of the most historic and beloved race courses in the nation. Ohio State will be sending eight crews to Dad Vails this year: Men’s Varsity Heavyweight Eight, Women’s Varsity Heavyweight Eight (Open), Men’s Varsity Heavyweight Four, Women’s JV Heavyweight Eight, Men’s Lightweight Four, Women’s Frosh/Novice Four, Men’s Pair and Men’s Frosh/Novice Four. These eight boats will be racing against almost 500 other crews including some of the fastest teams in the nation. March 19th-27th the Buckeyes returned to Lake Lure, North Carolina for their annual spring training. The team continued its many traditions such as the mountain run, senior jump in, inter-squad fun row, and the Oarswomen/Oarsmen jacket ceremony. Congratulations to varsity rowers Adam Reckless, Josh Taub, Corey Lach, Erik Meister, Colin Richards, Julie Stehli, Alyson Day, and Jordan McFall for earning their team jackets. The week concluded with the women performing competitive practice pieces with West Virginia, and the men racing UNC. The men made a strong showing sweeping all varsity events.

Buckeye Rowing Alumni Association hosted their annual winter formal at Gordon Biersch. Coaches, rowers and alumni all dressed up and enjoyed great food, while catching up with old friends.

Ohio State Crew hosted the Midwest Erg Sprint Championships at Tom Davis Gym (the RPAC) on Saturday February 27th. Over 270 athletes competed in high school, open, masters and coxswain events, 43 of whom were Ohio State rowers. The Open Men’s and Women’s 2k were won by the Buckeyes own Ian Dunn (6:19.7), and Ellen Manovich (7:09.2), respectively.
