On top of fundraising for March of Dimes this year, Ohio State Crew also started a team for Jog For Jill, an event that raises funds to find a cure for Lung Cancer in memory of Jill Costello (a Cal coxswain). The team fund raised $1,180 for Jog For Jill which put them in the top 3 teams in terms of fundraising. Ohio State Crew is proud to support and give back to the community in any way it can. Go Bucks!

Another winter training is on the books, and the team pulled out a strong finish at MCES again this year. We swept the medals in the Men’s Open Lightweight Novice, Women’s Open Lightweight Novice, and Women’s Open Novice, took home a silver and bronze in the Men’s Open Novice, and captured a bronze in the Women’s Open. Everyone came to win and showcased the vast improvements made this winter.
The team leaves for spring break next weekend. Time to put that speed on the water!

The Winter Open Boathouse for new recruits is Monday, January 21st at the Drake Union, ground floor, at 7pm. All those considering joining the team are encouraged to attend. Winter practice is Monday-Friday at 5:30am, 7:3oam, and 6:00pm, with occasional practices on Saturdays. Rowers only need to attend one practice a day during the winter. For those that have not rowed previously, training will include instruction on how to properly use and erg and eventually row. Bring a water bottle and wear a t-shirt, athletic shoes, and compression shorts. For more info, contact recruitment@osucrew.org.

Ohio State Crew is looking for winter recruits to train, and race come spring, for both the Men’s and Lightweight Women’s Team. Looking for athletes, especially those with past experience in endurance sports. Coaches and rowers will be on hand at the 2013 Winter Involvement fair to answer any and all questions. We hold practice at 3 different times in the winter but attendance is only required to one practice time. Coaches can also be reached at recruitment@osucrew.org. The Wolverbuck will be held Saturday, November 17th. The location of the race has moved downtown on the Scioto River where the team now rows at North Bank Park. Free parking is available at Confluence Park, from which people can walk east on the bike path to North Bank Park. There will be an Ohio State tent and prime viewing area at North Bank. No admission is charged, so come out and support the Men’s team as they take on that team from up North! Go Bucks!

OSU Crew is still taking new members for the novice class of 2012-2013! If you’ve always wanted to try rowing, saw it on the Olympics, were born with an oar in your hand, or just want a really awesome way to get in shape and make some of the best friends you’ll ever have, OSU Crew is the spot for you. No experience is necessary, so simply come out to one of our practices (Women’s: 3:30 or 5:30 PM; Men’s: 4 or 6 PM daily) and talk to one of the coaches/varsity rowers. Short, tall, heavy- or lightweight, we welcome all kinds into our family!
